Cruelty Free Alert! So, something I thought was really cool this month (despite the disappointment you’re about to read) is that all 5 products this month are from cruelty free brands. As I transition to 100% cruelty free I really appreciate this since Ipsy is one of the last things not guaranteed cruelty free that I still pay for. I urge Ipsy to keep it up & also weed animal cruelty out of their collection of brands. I’ll probably call out products in future reviews that aren’t cruelty free.
First up is a nail polish from Trust Fund Beauty in a super cool gray toned brown. One of my favorite colors to wear, especially with shorter nails. The formula is nice & thick, in the picture I have two coats on my thumb. One wasn’t quite enough, but twice worked without it being too thick. It’s been two days & no lifting or chipping in sight yet. My nail beds are really oily or something because sometimes a polish will pop off or chip the next day, the fact this one hasn’t yet I think is a really good sign. I’ve been excited to try this brand & am glad to not be disappointed.
Next is this very luxurious feeling lip & eye cream. The Organic Pharmacy is an all natural brand backed by science, just like their name suggests. This is my first time using one of their products or even hearing about them & I have to say I’m pretty impressed. I love Frankinscense in anything, this unfortunately doesn’t smell like it but I hope to benefit from it’s hydrating properties soon. Once applied it’s very thick but absorbs quickly leaving the skin feeling plump & completely hydrated. Since it doesn’t leave a greasy or slick feeling for long I’ve been using it during the day to keep my lips happy despite the crappy cold & dry weather.
As the picture shows: I can’t handle loose mineral eyeshadow. I’m sure this eyeshadow is awesome, maybe even great because it’s all natural with no fillers, but my god, I can’t. I tried to swatch it & it got everywhere. Whole hand was bronzed, then my arm because I didn’t like the texture it was giving my hand. I scrapped the swatch, it looks like every other copper mineral eyeshadow. This is like the 7th bronze-y/copper/gold eyeshadow Ipsy has given me so on top of everything I was just mad at this point.
Moving on to another product that disappointed me, but only because I’m not a fan of the color personally. Ipsy loves to send me red & berry lipstick, I rarely love to receive. I do however love NYX, probably my favorite drugstore brand, just like everyone else & their mother. The formula of this is great, I’ve always heard people rave about their Butter Lipstick formula but never bothered because I’m not a fan of regular lipstick. I’m a mess so it gets everywhere, this one is no exception but at least it moisturizes at the same time. More so than any other lipstick I’ve tried in recent memory. It’s also really pigmented so it looks great sheered or blotted. The faint fruity smell is a nice added touch.
Last item & last disappointment. BellaPierre Cosmetics is a brand I’ve never heard of before, but they’re another all natural mineral makeup line. I appreciate these kind of brands because of the crunchy granola lifestyle I try to uphold but I haven’t found many products that perform to my standards. This mascara in particular while very black, was also very wet. It didn’t give my lashes much volume, but a little length.I applied two coats, which may be why my lashes never truly dried & looked droopy. But one coat wasn’t enough, unless you truly appreciate that natural look. I will say I really appreciate the fact this mascara is full size, I think this is the first one.
